Hi! My name is Keiliah, pronounced Tequila, without the Te! That's usually the easiest way to explain the pronunciation of my name, weird I know. I'm 23 and I'm currently living in Bowling Green, Ky. I am a recent graduate of Western Kentucky University. Since graduating I have a full time job where I do nothing but sit at a desk for 10 hours a day. Sounds fun right? Well this has been a huge adjustment to my life. No more naps, late nights out during the week, staying up past 10, and the biggest, eating what I want! By no means did I get fat, but I definitely wasn't where I wanted to be. I had to actually start watching what I was eating because I wasn't walking the infamous "Hill" everyday or participating in every intramural on campus. This is when I decided to go on my first diet. I decided to do weight watchers because my mother had once done it and been successful. I have been successful on it and have lost about 12 pounds. I am close to what I want my weight to be but my fitness is nothing like it used to be. Exercising is something I used to do everyday, crave everyday, look forward to! Now, I struggle to do anything when I get off work. It doesn't help at all that my boyfriend is the most active person ever, with the highest metabolism in this world. He can eat what he wants and not workout for 2 months and be back in shape in a week! If only I had those genes. When first starting the whole "Big Girl Job" thing I could barely stay up past 8pm. Now that I have been doing it for 5 months I have finally adjusted. So I have decided it is time to get back in shape!
I want to run a 10K. Simple as that. I needed a goal to work towards, something to train for, and running isn't my strongest point so its something I can improve on. I am very athletic and played 4 sports in high school, one of these was cross country. I HATED IT. haha this doesn't exactly sound like a good idea does it. Well in high school I was forced to run constantly! I ran for cross country and for basketball conditioning. I'm more of a sprinter and i really enjoy lifting weights but I need to get into good running shape and build some endurance. So here I am. I have ran countless 5k's, but not for the last 8 years. But a 10K, never! I will be running the Bowling Green 10K on October 15, 2011. That gives me 8 weeks to train. In the mean time I am going to run a 5K on September 10, and a 5 mile run on September 24 to help me prepare. I did a little research and I wasn't really sure how to train and approach this so I emailed some guys from a blog that I read called midwestfit.com. They have made up a training program just for me and I start today!! I will be posting everyday about my workout the night before. I am a little nervous but looking forward to this journey! Thanks for reading! I hope everyone has a great day, and remember Just Keep Running!!
good luck! can't wait to see your progress!
